She Refused to Sign a Social Justice Pledge to Become a Therapist. They Kicked Her Out.

What is your therapist actually taught in graduate school, and what happens to a student who won’t go along with it? Leslie Elliott Boyce entered a counseling master’s program to deepen her study of psychology and how to help people in emotional pain. What she found inside the classroom changed her view of the entire profession, and ended her path to becoming a licensed therapist. In this conversation, she takes us through what she was asked to believe, what she was asked to say to clients, and what happened when she refused. Dr. Roger McFillin, who sat through his own version of this training two decades ago, and Tracy Thurman dig into why it’s happening, what it means for anyone sitting across from a therapist today, and what real healing actually requires.
